Ferres Chaplain & Supt &c Alexandria Va Sept 22d 1865 [[/left margin]] transmits statement of several colored persons residents of Fauquier Co Va. desiring the procuration of rights of property reverting to them by virtue of Will of former owner. - States that many Freedmen are making complaints of the conduct of the officers in charge of Freedmens affairs in Fauquier Co. Endorsed Richmond Va Sept 25th 1865 Respectfully referred to Capt Bohonon who will make a thorough investigation into the complaints herein made and take such steps as the case may require. Should the parties making the statements with be needed as witnesses application should be made to Chaplain Ferrer for them. Should it be found that the Ass Supt for Fauquier Co neglects his duty and fails to protect the Freedmen in their rights he will be reported here with the facts sustaining the charges. This property was occupied by the Military as a camp and was transferred to the Bureau by Capt Dudley A Q M. The tents formerly occupied by the Soldiers are now occupied by a large number of Freedmen 395 many of whom are to pay rent to the Bureau.
