Asks information concerning an Iron safe turned over to Maj Carney by Lt. Col. Kinsman

Respectfully returned to Col O. Brown Asst Comr &c State of Va with the following statements. Maj Carney had a large am't of property stored at Fort Monroe & among it was an Iron safe. The storehouse was taken by the ordinance Dept and the property was taken to Norfolk Va, whether the safe was taken there or not, I do not know as the property was not under my control.

Respectfully referred to Capt Crandon Inpt &c, who will furnish the lumber if it belongs to the Bureau_ He will also inform Mr Frost that our only sources of income being Government lands, and these lands having been restored, will prevent our furnishing the other articles however much we may desire to do so.
