therefore recommend that his services be contracted for, of Dr. Wm. Williamson. I know but little, he having never been connected by detail with the Bureau. The service of one Med officer on the E Shore is ample. I think, and unless the Bureau wishes the services of Dr. Williamson in Norfolk, Portsmouth or elsewhere. I would not recommend his employment.

Respectfully returned to Col. O. Brown Asst Comr State of Virginia. Enclosed find report of W.H. Bergfils Asst Supt. R &c. Matthews Co Va. of the 7th inst in the case of Miss Sally V.B. Tabb together with the following report of action taken of the 25" inst which I have approved. "In the case of Miss Sally V.B. Tabb. I have the honor to report the following action. 1st The servants to remain unmolested until Jan 1st 1866. 2nd That those who are at work in the crop, house, or otherwise, receive the same rations of corn, or meal, bacon and cotton  as has been customary for servants to receive until Jan 1st 1866. 3rd That one half (1/2) the present crop be left standing subject to the orders of the Asst Supt for the payment of the colored people.

In case of rents which have accrued prior to the pardon, or been paid into the Bureau, the owner of property is left to his legal remedy. See letter of instructions dated Sept 19 1865.
