States that a man named "Irish" in Virginia is shipping men, women, & children, to one St John in Brooklyn and then selling them for five dollars to any one who will take them. That they are sent there destitute of home & clothing of this season of the year, and asks that this inhumanity be abated.

States that he was removed from Williamsburg Va. by the U.S. Forces and given the house he now occupies. for a shelter, and was directed by Genl Veile to retain the same until he received the remnant of his property left by the U.S. Forces or some compensation for his property used by the Army.
States that he recd notice from C. E. Johnston agent of Bureau R.F. & A.L. that the house had been restored to its former owner, and that the back rents must be paid to that Bureau, and unless some - arrangements were made with the owner he must move by the 31st of Oct, says he did not know the house was in charge of the Freedmens Bureau, and that he can only promise to pay the rent, when Gov't pay him, as he has no money. Never knew the Gov't to support Refugees &c &c.
