they erected, and in which they have resided during and since the war. Many, are very loud in their threats, as to what they will, and,what they will not do, but it is hoped and believed, that with a kind, yet, a firm hand, they can be removed without great trouble, from the lands which the owner will not lease them. The great difficulty as to obtaining land for them during the coming year I think is obviated, as many "Land Owners" in York Co. are, stepping forward, and gladly lease their lands to the "Freedmen", this action on their part is readily explained, as the Bureau in this Sub-District has rendered the "Landlord" every assistance in the collection of fair and proper rents. Again there is a prompt and ready tribunal before which the Freedmen can be summoned, for any claims which is held against him. viz:
