in one instance, a colored man agreed to pay $400.00 per year for a farm, he works on the farm a whole year under disadvantages, having virtually nothing to commence with, and the results of it is now the Sheriff comes forward and notifies the colored man that so many days will be allowed him to pay his rents, the consequence is the colored man sell off any chickens and all his crop, and any thing else, and it is doubtful if he then can raise the amount required.

These contracts are made without consulting or advising with a third party on the part of the colored man

The sanitary condition of the county during the past month has been good. no diseases of a contagious character from death have been reported and children.

The crop (generally corn and cotton) has turned out very poorly. the yield has not been favorable more than one half

The great want of clothing has been relieved to some extent during the past month.
