honor, as well as the necessity of honest toil. I am much affraid that in one instance I shall have to resort to the issue of rations to prevent starvation, but will try and ward it off in some way. David Alston (col'd) stole some corn & will probably go to the penitentiary,
he has left three helpless children. I will try and obtain homes for them. A few cases of dispute have arisen in regard to wages, but I have been able to settle them without a resort to the courts.
