found against them, and they were turned over to the Civil Authorities for trial. All citizens irrespective of color have spoken in the highest terms of the action of the "Court" in this matter. The amount of business performed has of late been immense, the business of the office has also been on the increase; rents have been collected; Freedmen removed; difficulties adjusted by this office, and all citizens of this County acknowledge the importance and absolute necessity of the Bureau. The population of Freedmen in York Co is so immense that great obstacles will, of necessity be encountered before a normal condition of affairs is restored.

Removal of Freedmen.

Disposition can more readily be made of able bodied men who are able to support their families but the greatest difficulty to be encountered is providing for the indigent old and helpless: and the women and small children. It is proposed for the present at least, to not issue them any rations except at the Hospital. There appears to be a determined opposition in the minds of the "Freedmen" to removing into the Hospital
