I have the honor to report the following case of injustice, desiring some order in the premises; to wit:  David P. Wade of Brunswick Co. Va. employed for the year & all Robt Peebles, colored, wife, daughter & son & was to pay them one fourth (1/4) of all crops raised & board, but would not come to this office to have a contract ratified & recorded & never did come, but kept telling Peebles (col'd) that he would do what was right &c & thus kept him pacified till the division of the crop was to take place. He (Wade) then claimed that he was to give the family of Peebles (colored) only their board & clothes for their year's labor & to Peebles, himself only one sixth 1/6 of one fourth (1/4) of the crop, taking thus to himself five-sixths 5/6 of the fourth or in all 23/24 of all the crop, thereby
