I have the honor to submit the following report in compliance with instructions contained in Circular No 6. C.S. Headquarters, Asst Com'r Va.

The state of affairs in this sub-district is generally quiet. In the instances in Pr Geo Co. freedmen who had built houses on land rented by them, were at the expirations of the leases, forbidden by the owners of the land, Messrs Comer and Temple, to remove them. I examined the law on the subject and told them to take the houses- They had paid their rents- The daughter of Alfred Williams (a very intelligent colored man, at City Point), ran away from home and went to live with Wm G Birckett, where her father went after her.
