Bureau R. F. & A. L.
Office Asst Suprdt.
Burkeville Va. Dec 31st 1866.

Bt Brig Gen O. Brown
A.A. Adjutant General

In compliance with existing orders, I have the honor to submit the following Report of the Condition of Affairs of this Bureau in the Counties of Nottoway and Lunenburg Va. for the month ending Dec 31st 1866.
There is no change in the condition or aspect of affairs since my last report. The majority of the Freedmen are hiring themselves out for the next year, generally for a share of the crop and in a few cases for money wages. Those working for the latter receive about $8.00 per month and provisions. Those working for a share of the crop the entire hands on a farm receive from one fourth to one third of the crop made. the intelligent and respectable classes of the people invariably are well disposed towards the Freedmen.
