I have the honor to report the "general condition of Affairs in this Co. as follows. Sanitary condition, very good. Five deaths reported (colored) Two grown persons and three children, all of which I have finished coffins for. One of the resident physicians (Dr. McAlpine) informed me of one case of genuine Asiatic Cholera, which occurred within a half a mile of this place (white woman) and proved fatal in a very short time.

In the matter of contracts there appears to be very little disposition on the part of the whites to enter into written contracts for their labor.
