About the 20th Decr 1866 Mr A. Anderson called to rent the Rocks Hill Mill property and I told him it was for rent, but the rent was to be applied specially for my mothers support and she having suffered by her tenants would be very strict in her terms and would require the very best of security. Mr. Anderson promised to do all she required and asked me to draw up the bonds. I told him my mother was afraid to trust me to draw up the bonds as I had no experience in such matters, but that I could draw them up and he could take them and see what security he could get and then the papers could be submitted to my mother to see if the names would be satisfactory to her as she must be satisfied. Mr Anderson agreed to this and took the bonds and came back in a day or so in company with Jas E. Murray very drunk. Mr. Murray said he had called to say that he could not sign but one of the bonds but if Anderson did what he had promised him and he lived he would sign the other two. I then said to Mr Anderson that he must get some other parties to sign the bonds as Murray might die and I was satisfied my mother would not take his word neither would I. Anderson then promised to get Samuel Rector and Mrs Nancy Anderson both of London County. I told him I was satisfied that these names would be satisfactory to my mother he then went off and returned late in the evening before Christmas day and came in the Mill where I was at work, he found me asleep and the Mill running he roused me up and lain the
