Anthony Dangerfield his brother also had a contract with another party who after settlement owed him $103.08. He was put off with a note for $103 8 leaving out the 0 before the 8 thus making the note worth only $10.38. I sent him back to his employer to have it rectified not knowing whether it was intentional or not Those are only two of many cases that come to my notice during the past month Those Freedmen who have worked for a share of the crop have done better although they have considerable trouble in the division. Those that have worked for the month have had no trouble for if not paid promptly they quit and go elsewhere and their employers to keep them are compelled to pay promptly.
Genl Orders No 11 OS relative to horses & mules created an intense excitement almost to violence One party [[illegible - page folded]] goverment horse rather than give it up he would shoot is. Others took pains to curse the "Yankees" Generaly I of course coming in for my full share. There is a large number of horses & mules in this sub Dist mostly "Mosbys Captures" and should the order be received it would require troops to execute it.
