I have the honor to forward the following report in compliance with Circular No. 6. dated Hd. Qrs. Asst Comr. Va. Jan 29, 1866.

There has nothing of interest transpired in this Sub-Dist to embrace in this report.  The feeling that exists between the whites and blacks is still unfriendly although the whites do not show it out as much as they did some time ago. The Freedmen seem to be very well satisfied with the manner in which they labored last year, which was on shares, and prefer working the same this year. The farmers prefer paying them money wages, but many are obliged to give them a share of the crops as the majority of the Freedmen will work no other way. But very few contracts are made in this Office,
