Females, some of them only receive their victuals and clothing - while others secure wages ranging from five to eight dollars per month.  Those of the Freedmen who have succeeded in leasing land, or who have entered into an agreement to cultivate the soil, for one third or one half the crop, have the best prospect before them; with advantages, which improved, will return them enlarged compensation for their labor.  As a general thing the Whites are fulfilling their obligations with them; treating them kindly, and paying them promptly.

In cases of non payment of indebtedness for labor performed, the parties are required to appear at these Head Quarters, when almost invariably a satisfactory settlement is effected.  Some few cases we are obliged to refer to the civil authorities for adjustment.

In regard to the Bureau, there is a growing disposition manifested among the Whites, to accept its decisions in good faith; and to do nothing, which would bring them
