a larger crop than usual sown, and it promises well. Other Farming opperations have been somewhat delayed by the severe and long winter, but at present lost time is being rapidly made up.

No instances of want or destitution, unprovided for by the "Overseers of the Poor", have come to my knowledge, and I have had no application for aid during the month ending.

In one or two localities, near the Pittsylvania line the Small Pox has existed to some extent. On its appearance, the locality is immediately placed under Quaranteen, which has prevented its spred, and many employers, have had all in their employ vaceinated. with this exception the health of the County is very good.

An excellent state of feeling exists between the Whites and Freedmen of this County, and no cases of abuse have been brought to my knowledge during the month.

Upon the whole Bureau affairs are prosperous and satisfactory
