The demand for transportation is steadily increasing, and contracts are being generally accepted for the current year. Transportation for Two Hundred and twenty five (225) freedpeople has been furnished from this office during the months of Jan. & Feb. and, at least, One Hundred & Fifty (150) have made contracts and removed to other localities, without expense.

The freed-people located on lands, formerly held by the Bureau R.F.A.L, but now restored to former owners, are being removed as expeditiously as possible, and such arrangements have been effected with the present owners of such lands, as, it is believed, will enable the Bureau to gradually distribute this class of freed-people in a manner mutually satisfactory.
