relations an existing between the whites and Freedmen and the Magistrates seem disposed to treat the Freedmen with justice and fairness in any complaints brought before them. The Constable of this district has informed me that he has brought several suits for Freedmen before the Magistrates in different parts of the county and in every instance the freedmen received the full amount claimed. 

The County of Madison has not yet made sufficient provision for the support of the colored poor, and they have no poor house in which to shelter to the destitute of either color, but the County of Green provides for the poor and destitute of either color alike. 

All of the Whites with whom I have come in contact express themselves satisfied with the labor and deportment of the Freedmen in their employ.
