In compliance with Circular No 6 dated Hd Qrs Asst Com'r Va Richmond Va Jany 29th 1866 I have the honor to report the state of affairs between the Whites & Freedmen to be very fair. But few cases have occurred this month when the Freedmen have been wronged, all of which have been amicably settled. The feeling against loyal white people does not abate and I have just received by this evenings mail a report of the case of a Mr. Wolf at Warrenton Junction (alluded to in my last report). He was up to see me last Monday and upon his return to the Junction he was attacked and as my informant states nearly killed for coming to me with his complaints. I will make a special report of the case by the first of the coming week. There are only a few of the magistrates in Farquier county who I can safely feel with
