and that the President and the Supreme Court were on their side and that the next war would be a greater one than the last, and requested me to report him, etc.  I simply told him that I feared the government would not consider him of any importance.  Martial law, being removed this is a cheap kind of braggadocio that is becoming prevalent.  There has been a great change here, since the passage of the military bill, and I feel more like a man in Virginia than I have in twelve months.  The power of the government begins to be respected.
