Brevet Brig Genl O Brown
Asst Comr B R F & A L
State Va Richmond Va

General
In compliance with Circular No 6 Hd qrs Asst Comr Richmond Va Jan 29th 1866 I have the honor to report That the affairs of the Bureau in this Sub Dist are getting along well, The feeling between the Whites and Freedmen is better among the better class of Whites there seems to be a very decided inclination to foster and cultivate a clearer understanding bettween the races the interests of whom daily become more blended. They (the Whites) are becoming more alive to the necessity of educating the Freedmen and would, I think, help tho work, only they are so poor

You are aware General there are no schools in this large County. A great deal of good could be done by the establishment of one at this place

I have the Hoor to be General
Very respectfully Your obdt servt
