from a cold man by force of arms threatening to shoot him if it was not surrendered. Also riots are being instituted by former slave owners, for property bought and now in the possession of said Freedmen.
Altogether there is a more bitter feeling now than at any time during the previous six months.
the Freedmen are quiet and industrious and everywhere evincing a determination not only to educate their children but themselves. The schools now underway are in a very flourishing condition, teachers efficient and energeic.
