Report on the condition of Bureau affairs in the Sub District embracing the counties of Amelia and Powhatan, Va, - made by Lieut. J.B Clinton Asst Supt. - for the month ending March 31st 1867.

In this, I have the honor to state that for however much I may wish, I could not in reason expect a better condition of Bureau affairs in this Sub District than at present exists. With all the inclement weather that we have had, there has not been that show of industry wished for, and much needed for the support of a large class of poor people, but the manifest disposition to do all that can be done, together with the flourishing schools for freedmen, the impartiality in the administration of justice, the fair and just dealing of the whites with the freedmen and the apparrant [[apparent]] good feeling between the two races, there is much to encourage faithfulness in the discharge of the all important duties that devolve me.
