I have the honor to report in compliance with Circular No. 6. Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr. State of Va, Jan 29th 1866, that the freedmen in this County are doing remarkably well. No disputes or difficulties have occurred between them and the whites during the present month, and a general good feeling seems to exist between both races. I have not heard of a single case of stealing during the month, and but few complaints have been made to me in regard to settling up contracts for last year. (Many of which have been settled this month) all of which seem settled satisfactory to all parties concerned.
