Application having been made at this office on behalf of Eliza Hollingsworth (freedwoman) who was one of your employees for the year 1866, and among the number that were sent away without settlement. I have the honor very respectfully to request information from you as to wether or not Eliza Hollingsworth loaned or sold you thirty five bushels of Corn about the time she commenced work for you for which no return for said amount of corn has been made her as she claims,

I forward the vouchers this early from the fact that I am in need of the money and hope to receive payment promptly on the last day of the month.
