You are hereby required to furnish this Office with your authority for such action: This without delay, failing to furnish the required authority you will become liable to arrest under the provisions of "an Act entitled an Act to protect all persons in the U.S. in their Civil rights and furnish the means of their vindication" passed April 9" 1866 by the Congress of the U.S.'

You are hereby informed that a settlement under the terms of your contract with Mr John Pammell for the year 1867, must necessarily be effected before you have any right to the control of a part of the crop raised on the place during the year. This may be done either by arbitration or amicable settlement. Until such settlement is effected Mr Pammell has a right to the entire control of the crop raised on his place.
