Application having been made at this office by Job McCun (freedman) for assistance concerning the settlement of his accounts with you under terms of his Contract for the year 1867. I have to request you to call at this office at an early date and by appointment meet the said Job McCun here for the purpose of settling with him. If not inconsistent with other duties and the settlement cannot be satisfactorily made otherwise between Mr James Pace and the aforesaid McCun concerning the services rendered him by his son Simon McCun for stated wages during the year 1867. Will you Please notify him to call at this office at the same time for settlement

Representation having been made at this Office that you are retaining in your Service a Minor Son of Ann Cleveland (freedwoman) contrary to her wishes under color of law apprenticing said minor. You are herby informed that each indenture is null and void provided it was not entered into by the consent of one of its parents.
