in the season he deserted his family and failed to make any provision for their support and withdrew all connections between them for their support in point of business. If the representations are facts, the children which are not his own having been provided for through the efforts of the mother and all demands concerning their support having been settled by the mother Louis had no claims whatever upon their allowances consequently if such allowance have been appropriated for other purposes, than the adjustment of claims upon the mother and children such appropriation cannot be sustained by this office from the fact it would result to disadvantage and distress of the legal Claimants. Some portion of the corn belonging to the children as their share having been transferred to you by Louis Gresham, unless the foregoing suggestions meet with your approbation and views I have the honor to request your representation of the facts in the case as may have been brought before your notice, either by written or personal representation. In case you dissent from the views herein taken will you please direct Louis Gresham to appear at this Office at the same time that you may make your representation.

I have the honor to inform you that complaint has been made at this Office by Wyatt Moore (freedman) in effect that one Hodges overseer on Watts & Cox plantation in Newton County Miss, is detaining about 45 Bushels of Corn, the property of the said Wyatt Moore; this without any warrant at law. Will you please give this matter your official attention upon the complaint being made by Wyatt Moore.
