84 85 Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and A.L. Office of Sub Asst Comr Sub Dist of Lake Station Miss Lake Station Miss January 13th 1868 1 Cheatham Mr E. S. or his business Manager Scott County Miss Sir Representation having been made at this office that the claims of the laborers. employed on the plantation known as the Davis and Conley plantations for the year 1866 and 1867 have not been satisfied that the crop is about being removed to Market without any assurance being previously given to the laborers that their services will be paid After you are hereby notified that this instrument of writing will constitute an action of seizure fall crops raised said plantations during the time above specified which may be now on said plantation and including ten (10) bales of cotton more or less which is now at Forrest Station Miss awaiting shipment. This seizure is made under the provisions of existing orders from Head Qtrs 4th Military District and subordinate Military Offices and will take precedence of any and all other actions not iminating [[emanating]] from a Superior Military Office and will continue in force until revoked by this on a Superior Military Office. Any violations of this order by the removal of any or the whole of the crop above specified will subject the offender or offenders to trial by Military Commission under orders by which this office is governed therein made and provided for such offences.
