Action was taken in accordance with the same and (74) families complied with its condition, and the remainder have been removed and through transportation and rations given by this office the same was accomplished without suffering or violence, making a reduction of (118) one hundred and eighteen families. Mr Cook leased to eight or ten other families who were on the point of being ejected which may increase his tenantry to about eighty families  Within fifteen days Mr Cook received through this office upon his modified terms four hundred and forty one 27/100 dollars.

The best class of tenantry remain with Mr Cook, and they will reside on his farm for this year only and he will have no trouble in collecting his rent. Notwithstanding this fact and the large amount of money received without any trouble to him in the least, in so short a time he is very much displeased with the present arrangements and has displayed a spirit of acrimony and tartness towards the colored race which nothing but old prejudice can account for.
