The General desires further report of the outrage inflicted on the family and person of Simon P. Calloway (Col'd) by one "Huff" in Floyd County Va. also: of the beating and shooting of the freedmen near Salem. Va. mentioned in your report in regard to "Bureau affairs" for April 1867. Should the civil Authorities release "Huff" on insufficient bail  You will give the name or names of persons having jurisdiction in the case and they will be recommended to General Schofield for removal.
