Capt, In compliance with circular No 6 dated Hd Qr Asst Comr Va Richmond Va January 29th 1866, I have the honor to report the state of feeling between the Whites and Freedmen to be very good The Freedmen are at work with more energy than they displayed last season The large fields now being prepared for corn and grain plainly shows that they are willing to work if their employers will pay them. The Will case of the Furgeson hiers vs the Fox & Blackwell Estate has at last been settled by compromise: The Estate according to the Commissioners report amounted to the sum of $165.676.67. The Ferguson hiers get the sum of $45.020.40. leaving for the legatees (the servants of John Fox & Mrs Blackwell his sister) the sum of $126.656.27 of this sum the land about 1200 acres is appraised at $25.000 The remainder is in bonds bank stock and debts covered by the Stay law of Va In a conversation with Judge Thomas he (over)
