A Lincoln Temperance Society is to be organized in this place at once by the Freedmen. the first meeting for the organization is to be held during the coming week and I think a number of others will be organized in different portions of the two Counties during the coming summer. There is more intemperance among those who live in or contiguous to the mountains Those among the other portions owing to the fact that a number of Distilleries a located in the mountain regions and Liquor is more easily obtained in those localities, there is much less intemperance among the Freedmen however than among the whites
