It is now very evident to the farmers that they will gain nothing by making enemies of the Freedmen, or endeavoring to deprive them of their legal rights. The privilege of registration is very generally embraced by the negro population "with none to molest or make afraid," and though a few large mass-meetings of freedmen have been held in this Division, there has been no disturbance of any kind, and when they come to exercise the rights of enfranchised citizens they are going "En masse" for the rights of humanity, founded upon the strict principles of truth and justice
