I have the honor to report that the ill feeling shown by the white inhabitants towards the Freedmen in this Division has increased rather than diminished during the past month it has been more marked since the commencement of Registration than previous, as exhibited in assaults (see letter from this office June 28" 1867), and other annoyances.

The Freedmen are all at work gathering the crops which promise to be larger than they have been for three years previous, making the demand for rations proportionately small 

I am sorry to say sickness prevails, caused partly by exposure & scarcity of food during the past severe winter

Freedmen are every where evincing
