Wytheville, Va. July 1st 1867.

Capt. G. Mallery
A.A.A. Genl.
Richmond Va

Captain
In compliance with circular No 6, series of 1866, I have the honor to report that the Freedmen in this Sub Dist are generaly employed and obtaining a comfortable living though at small wages. Their condition seems to be improving slowly They are industrious and generaly temperate, But very few cases of intemperance have come to my knowledge. No cases of destitution have been reported during the Month.

The schools are well attended and much interest is taken in them. The benefits of these schools are already very apparent in the improved condition of all who have had access to them.

No complaints have been received
