The freedmen are employing every opportunity to instruct themselves as to their duties as citizens.

There are no freedmen in this 2d Division who are confirmd drunkens but the habit of tippling or drinking a social glass is to common with them

The freedmen have organized an association to be calld the "Union Relief Association" wich is to meet once a week for the purpose of hearing from the sick and to make provisions for their comfort as far as they can and to bury the dead.

This Association is to take steps to prevent intemperance and break up this habit of drinking and loungin around and other habits that were prevelant when they were slaves These association are formed in Warren & Page Cos and are approved and supported by the intiligent class of whites they are also to receive contribution to buy
