Their deportment, industry, economy, and zeal in many regards, show that the colored race is awakening to a substantial realization of their new duties and responsibilities, and that let the white do what he may, they are determined to convince the civilized world that those to whom they are indebted for their liberty, were not mistaken in conferring upon them the rights and privileges which they now enjoy.
