observed by the large number who are interested in the cause.  Clergymen in the Freedmen's churches lose no opportunity of impressing upon the minds of their hearers the importance of maintaining the principles of temperance, and seems to make a deep impression.  During the four months that I have been on duty in this County, I have never yet seen a Freedman under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

Two or three societies of Freedmen are about to organize under the name of "The Loyal League", and to the regulations of each society there will be atttached a Temperance Pledge which every member will be obliged to sign.
