In compliance with Circular No 6 dated Hd Qrs Asst Comr Va Richmond Va January 29th 1866 I have the honor to report that the Freedmen have all done remarkably well during the past month the feeling against them by the whites has been very bitter but I begin to see a change brought around by the political change of the country. There has been but few instances of the Freedmen leaving their employers or of the employer discharging them for exercising their rights. I have so far been unable to procure reliable testimony of any being discharged for that reason and believe that a very small number of them failed to avail themselves
