for services rendered, but as the demand for labor exceeds the supply they, the Freedmen, manage to hold their own very well, and think after a while this feeling will be overcome by the effects occasioned from their exercising these rights and privileges.

As I reported in my last monthly report the testimony of Freedmen is no longer a matter of agitation in the Courts of Justice in this Division,

The cause of temperance among the Freedmen is not so prosperous in this Division as could be desired, There is however an organization in this City known as the Cold Water Sons of the Valley, The only temperance organization in the County, it was organized some two or three years ago and once numbered some sixty or seventy members, but is now redused to about half that number The offices of this association reports that there is a great falling off of the number during the Harvest Seasons which accounts for them being so small at present, I have taken some steps to have a temperance society organized in the County of Clark and hope in another month to be able to make a favorable report of it The school in this Division is at present enjoying a vacation,
