Woodstock Va August 31" 1867

Genl O Brown,
Asst Comr

Genl

I have the honor to report the condition of Bureau affairs as improving with the exception of the feeling manifested toward all Freedmen improving the school advantages now offered them, as shown by threats of assault on the teacher (on intelligent colored men) This school located at Woodstock is in a flourishing condition and if allowed to continue will become more so. It is self supported, all the Freedmen showing great interest in the cause.

I have organized (3) three Lincoln Temperance societies, which are doing well, with an average of {40} forty members. The rescued race seeming to wish to embrace attainable means for their moral elevation.
Respectfully
