the Freedmen from the fact that in the Registration of this Division, the Freedmen are in the majority and the whites will now use their endeavors to gain the votes of the Freedmen, but they well know who are their friends.

No organization of the Freedmen for the furtherance of the cause of Temperance has been formed in this Division, although endeavors have been used to effect the same, they being now formed in societies and leagues for the purpose of election, postpone the organization of Temperance Societies for the present, though they are free to confess it would be beneficial to their interests.  The Freedmen in this Division are not inclined to be intemperate in the use of intoxicating liquors, and it is a rare occurrence to see a Colored man drunk.
