The great question, &, that which absorbs all others, in point of interest, is the approaching election of Delegates to the convention, to frame a constitution for the State.  The opposing parties are resorting to all means, to secure the support of the votes in their respective Districts.  I have not the least doubt, but what, many persons, both White, & colored, will be thrown out of houses & employment, for refusing to obey the behests of the wealthier citizens, in the exercise of the elective franchise.  Of course this will be done in such a way, as, at least, to try to make it appear that it was not done for political purposes.

This, so far as the Freedmen are concerned, will call for the energetic, & prompt action of the Officers of the Bureau, to protect them from injustice, & improper interference, & persecution.
