houses are being built in various parts of the Dist. for schools with the hope of being able to procure teachers. In most of the places where school houses are being built board would be furnished if a teacher could be sent. No dependent can be placed upon native teachers unless under the supervision of Northern teachers. In every case where they have been tried so far they have failed. There is a considerable call for clothing for women and children and as cold wrath approaches the necessity for such clothing will increase. This need is among a class of persons who would take care of themselves by a little assistance. Could a small quantity of such clothing be distributed it would relieve much suffering. 
The majority of the whites are bitterly opposed to allowing my rights to the blacks or admitting them as their equals before the Law. In this respect there has been no improvement during the last month. The law enfranchising them is looked upon as unconstitutional. Every means will be resorted to to
