Very few complaints have been made against the whites by freedmen, and a better disposition is shown by the civil authorities to protect them. On the whole the freedmen are getting along very comfortably

The corn crop has turned out about one half only, some cotton has been planted and bid fair for a good yield, but the worm attacked it and good judges say that not one quarter will be realized.
 
The subject of Temperance has been discussed to some extent, and the preachers report slow progress
