Bvt. Major Garrick Mallery
A. A. A. G. Bureau R.F. and A.L.

Major
In compliance with Circular No. 6. dated Hd. Qrs. Asst. Com'r Va Richmond, Va. Jany. 29th 1866 I have the honor to report that the condition of Bureau affairs in Alexandria Co. Va is good. Labor is in demand and there are none that are willing to work but can find employment at good wages Since the stoppage of the issue of rations there has been but very few applications for relief, which have been promptly referred to the civil authorities. The State of feeling between the whites and the freedmen is good, none but those of the strongest prejudices causing any trouble, except where through a misconception of the municipal law the freedmen sometime think an injury has been done where none was even intended.

Very Respectfully
Your obedient Servant
S. P. Lee
