be shown no justice through the Civil Courts. A gentleman in King & Queen County who was a strong union man during the war was the guardian of some children by the name of Didlake, he was brought into Court lately to settle their accounts, in taking his evidence he was made to swear whether he voted for secession or not and whether he aided and sympathized with the Confederacy or not or made any investments in confederate bonds or not; Witnesses were brought up and made to swear whether this gentleman had any confidence in Confederate money and whether they had heard him say during the war that the Confederate cause would not succeed. It can be seen by this that the hatred towards Union people has not changed. The Physicians of that County have refused lately to call upon his family when one of them was lying dangerously sick. The depositions above spoken of I have a copy of which I obtained to forward to Head Quarters should they be called for.

I am, General.
Very Respectfully, Your obt servt
