They now occupy the new School House, built specially for Church and School purposes, and has every necessary comfort and convenience. Miss Lucy Eastman the former teacher, recently returned, has been commissioned by the New York Branch of the Freedman's Union Commission, Principal of this school which now numbers one hundred and five scholars. We hope to be able to secure an assistant at an early day.

A large and flourishing Sunday School was organized by the Officer in Charge on the 1st Sabbath of the present month, numbering one hundred & fifty scholars, it has since increased to one hundred & seventy five, and is now in successful operation. 

At Newbern, Pulaski County a Freedman's School will be organized, in their newly repaired school house on the 1st Monday in November, under the auspices of the Friends Freedmen Association of Philadelphia. The Teacher Rhoda W Smith is expected to arrive here in a few days.

In regard to the temperance movement I have been delayed in the work, by not receiving prompt reply to my communication, addressed to the Chairman of the Executive Committee at Washington.
